Do Evans & Co carry out home visits?

We realise that it may be difficult for some clients to visit our offices, therefore home visits can be made by appointment. Depending on location an additional charge may be payable.

Do Evans & Co offices have wheelchair access?

Both offices in Spennymoor and Ferryhill have disabled wheelchair access.

Can a solicitor be seen out of hours?

We realise clients’ working commitments and inability to access the office during business hours therefore we try to be flexible where possible in arranging appointments.

Do Evans & Co provide service by email?

Email is the most efficient form of communication and we are able to correspond with clients via email if that is preferable. We do not however accept service of documents by email.

How quickly will I be able to have an appointment?

According to the urgency of your legal business, you can expect to have an appointment within a matter of days.

How do I prepare for my initial meeting?

Think carefully about the details of your case. Make a list of the main points you want to make or the questions you want to ask. Get together any paperwork that might be relevant and put it in some order so you can refer to it quickly. This will make it quicker and easier for your solicitor to understand your circumstances and give you proper advice.

Why do I have to provide I.D?

If we have not acted for you before or a solicitor has not taken instructions from you for some time, new government money laundering regulations mean you must prove who you are. This means you will have to show your solicitor or somebody acting on their behalf some personal identification documents that can include:
1. Current signed passport
2. Photo-card driving license
3. Identity card
4. Recent gas, electricity or other household bill dated within the last 3 months

Do you deal with Legal Aid?

No we do not. For further information on legal aid visit https://www.gov.uk/legal-aid/overview.

Will I be able to find out how much Evans & Co’s services will cost?

Yes, we try and provide an estimate of cost and look to update you regularly as the matter progresses. You will be advised in writing of our charges and how they work.

Can I set a cost limit?

We are happy to agree a limit on costs and will not exceed that limit without gaining consent from you first.
